Smokehouse Spaghetti

Tasty, easy to make casserole is always a crowd pleaser. Serve with Texas toast and salad to make a great family meal. Freezes beautifully.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb. spaghetti
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 12 strips bacon raw
  • 1 med onion diced
  • 1 med green pepper diced
  • 14 oz. can mushrooms pieces and stems undrained
  • 29 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp chipotle pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 lb. colby jack cheese shredded

Instructions
 

  • Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • Place hamburger, chopped bacon and onion in a 5 quart Dutch oven and cook on medium heat until meat is brown. Drain.
  • Return to pot and add green pepper, mushrooms, tomato sauce and spices. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add spaghetti and mix well.
  • Layer half the meat and spaghetti mixture into a greased 11 x 14 lasagna pan. Cover with half the cheese. Layer the remaining meat and spaghetti over the cheese. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
  •  Remove from oven and cover with remaining cheese. Return to oven and bake, uncovered until cheese is melted.
