Sausage and Noodles

Quick and easy main dish perfect for busy weeknights!

Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 24 ounces smoked sausage cut into 1" slices
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 24 ounces chicken broth
  • 1/2 medium cabbage chopped
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 8 ounces cream cheese cut into 1" cubes

Instructions
 

  • Cook the noodles according to package directions, drain and set aside.
  • Place the sausage and onion into a large (5.5 qt.) Dutch oven and saute until sausage is browned and onion is translucent.
  •  Add the chicken broth, cabbage, crushed red pepper, garlic, salt and pepper and simmer until cabbage is tender. 
  • Add peas and cream cheese and simmer until the cream cheese is almost melted. 
  • Stir in the noodles and allow to heat through. Add more salt and pepper if desired.
  • Add more broth or less cream cheese if sauce a thinner sauce is preferred.
  • Enjoy!
